Perfectly Imperfect Mom

I am so excited to share with you some of my favorite toddler and baby games and puzzles from Diapers (dot) com!
Being a Mom of three I know the true value of finding toys that will not only hold up under the craziness of little ones but ones that will last from the first child to the last. Not only do we want the toys to last through the ages but also through the children we have. Here are our favorite picks and these were all built to last!
baby games and toys

1. Wooden Puzzles / 2. Mega Bloks / 3. Board Books / 4. Wooden Tool Bench / 5. Green Toys Boat
As you can see majority of these toys are made from wood or durable materials. My favorite item above is the tool bench. It can start as a great toy for your little one to pull up on, gaining strength to stand and eventually walk. Then when they get older they can use the tools to gain fine and gross motor skills.

Puzzles are also a great way for babies to gain fine motor skills. I love thick wooden ones because they are easy to pick up for little hands. Mega Bloks also grow with your little one because my kids would play with these as babies even before they could built with them and are still building with them now. I have had the same set since my son was a baby so that is almost 5 years of use by 3 children and they are still in excellent condition!

Board books get a lot of use at our house. The Brown Bear one is my children's absolute favorite. It helps them recognize colors and different animals. They love making the noises too. This is a book we have also had for almost 5 years and it has held up well because of the thickness of it.

And last but not least this tug boat by Green toys is such an incredible product. We got one of these as a gift once when Ace was just learning to walk and it seriously is the best water toy ever. All of their toys are thick and do not break like the regular beach toys you buy because of how thick it is.

I hope this list helps other Moms who are looking for great toys, games and puzzles to invest in. If you just had your first baby you definitely will want to always look at how long toys will last. I know we have had some toys that break so easily that it was such huge waste of money. That really stinks because I always feel like it is just another item in the trash taking up space in the landfill which is horrible for our environment as well.

Thanks again to Diapers(dot)com for sponsoring this post!

Today’s post is sponsored by Gerber® Soothe, which believes less crying for a baby means more smiling for all.
I received a free sample of Gerber® Good Start® Soothe infant formula and Gerber Soothe® probiotic colic drops from Gerber. My thoughts and opinions are by my own.
Dear New Mom to 3 under 3,
Right now you are in the thick of it. You have 3 under 3 and are feeling like a failure but let me tell you what, you will get to the other side of this. Everly will stop with the colic at around 6.5 months. The constant crying is her only way to tell you she's miserable. Sure it seems like forever but once she does she is going to be the happiest, funniest baby ever.
Even though your dreams of breastfeeding this little one longer than Ace was squashed you will eventually realize you do what you have to survive have so many little ones and it all works out just fine.
I know you are wondering what you got yourself into and wonder if this will ever be easy but trust me when your girls are 2 and Ace is 5 you will be so happy with their closeness in age.
It's not always easy and having a baby that cries what seems to be non-stop. She is your toughest baby to date and colic is no joke. But she will teach you so much about yourself and how strong you are as a Mom. Swaddle that little girl, turn out the lights and rock her with the sound machine on because that will be the perfect combination to get her to calm down and sleep. It will be yours and her formula for happiness in those crazy days. In those moments you will see the beauty of all of this.
Love,
Yourself in 2.5 Years
What was your formula for happiness with your little one?! Comment with your trials of having a newborn to help other Moms not feel so alone in the new stages of motherhood.

This is a sponsored post, thank you McDonald's of South Florida for the opportunity to work with you! McDonald's Logo

Us mamas know that our children's health is our number one concern. That's why we pay such close attention to what we feed them. Sometimes after a long day, we need a quick meal, but we also don't want to feed our children foods that contain harmful and artificial ingredients. We recently had a chance to sit down with some local McDonald's franchisees in South Florida to discuss McDonald's new and simpler Chicken McNuggets, as well as McDonald's commitment to provide healthier and natural foods to its customers. The three franchisees, two moms and a dad, explained how they have seen McDonald's evolve over the years as they grew up in the business. We also had the opportunity to taste test the new yummy McNuggets, which are made with 100% white meat and no artificial preservatives, colors or flavors. Many of us mamas noticed a slight difference in flavor from the McNuggets we grew up with. However, we liked the new taste and we liked the fact that they were healthier, even more. These new McNuggets bring back that childhood feeling without the adult guilt!

Announcements From McDonald's

McDonald’s USA recently announced a number of moves across its menu as the company continues to evolve. This includes:
  • removing artificial preservatives from several items which also don’t have artificial colors or flavors, including its iconic Chicken McNuggets. Across its breakfast menu, the pork sausage patties and omelet-style eggs served on McGriddles, Bagel and Biscuit breakfast sandwiches, along with the scrambled eggs on its breakfast platters, also now have no artificial preservatives.
  • rolling out new buns this month that no longer contain high fructose corn syrup, including the buns used on Big Macs, Quarter Pounders, hamburgers and cheeseburgers, Filet-O-Fish and McChicken sandwiches. The Artisan roll introduced in 2015 never contained high fructose corn syrup.
  • completing a major commitment to only serve chicken not treated with antibiotics important to human medicine* nearly a year ahead of schedule.

Ahhh I can not believe Summer is almost over. It seriously flew by. We had a lot of fun traveling, seeing friends and the kids loved camp. Now we are onto a new chapter of life. All of our kids will be in school! I can't believe the girls start preschool full time and Ace is going into Kindergarten. It seems surreal. I feel like I need to update on the kids so I don't forget these ages.
I was just looking at pictures of the girls when they were babies and it seems so far away yet it could have been yesterday with how fast time flew. In so many ways I miss having those two little babies playing on the floor but I love how fun they are now.

Their personalities are so fun to watch the older they get. They are so distinct from one another too.

Everly is very sensitive. She is also hysterical. Such a clown and once she warms up to you she is the funniest person ever. She also is my cleaner and likes things a certain way. If it's not she gets pissed. She also is a really good little girl because she listens really well and likes to help. She is also very physically sturdy and can do so much. It's crazy to watch her do a flip. I still can't get over how she has always been advanced physically.
Ashlyn is very much my sweet, goofy girl. I always say she dances to the beat of her own drum and I love it. I love that she sees flowers and wants to pick them. She isn't in a rush or aggressive. She likes to be snuggled and is just such a good girl. That being said she is so mischievous. It kind of makes us laugh and roll our eyes like "that's Ashlyn being Ashlyn" because she has always been this way. She also is very silly with her movements. I can't even really explain it but she does the funniest things because she is so goofy. She always has the sweetest smile too.
Some of the girls' favorite sayings are "Hold you" which means hold me, "My do it" which is I do it and my favorite of Ashlyn's because of the way she says it is "this is mine." I wish I could relay how it is said because it's hilarious.
Then there is my big boy Ace. He is such a good boy. He definitely has his moments but he has just matured so much. He amazes me with how much of a helper he is if I need him when we go somewhere or helping the girls with things. He is a rule follower so that helps a lot. He is still a big talker and loud so that can be interesting. I can not wait to see how he does in school this year. We have started working on a few words with him and he does really well. He has always been a smart cookie but more importantly a sweet guy.
Oh sweet Summer we will miss you.
