Perfectly Imperfect Mom

Oh my goodness this unintentional blogging break has been good. Not that I don't want to blog but finding time has been seriously hard, guys!

This time of year at work is like a crunch time for our seniors, which means crunch time for me. It also is such an awesome time of year too. Having the kids come into my office telling me where they are going to college, about their scholarships and plans has been so exciting. I have really loved this first year of being a Brace advisor. It's such a fun job. Sure, it can be overwhelming at times, like right now, but it is so rewarding.  Now things are winding down so I am hoping to be able to get on here more.

Now we are making Summer plans and I already feel like we are filled up with things to do. I like to have a plan so we aren't just sitting around but I also feel like time is going to fly. Anyone else plan on taking advantage of the Summer Movies at Regal or Cinemark? We will probably do the Regal ones since our theater now has recliners! It's fun being able to do more with the kids now that the girls are getting older. They also are going to go to "camp" a couple days in the summer. We are preparing them for preschool. They are going to start that in the Fall. My babies are all getting so big! Ace starts Kindergarten in the Fall and I seriously am going to be crying that first day (week?). Thankfully I work with one of my best friends and her son is also starting Kindergarten at the same time so I am sure we will be crying together. Kindergarten Mom's unite!

Ok I have to get going because my kids are ready to go in the pool! Will update soon I promise.
If you want to get frequent updates follow me on Instagram. I update there daily.

But until then tell me your Summer plans in case I need some ideas for free days!

Since the girls are still young I really wanted to do a party for them together. They share everything and honestly doing two parties I feel like can be a bit much when they all have the same friends and family members and they are literally like twins at this age. Same size clothes, same toys, same room, pretty much on the same level learning wise. The age gap has pretty much closed so why not just do it till they want them separate?

So of course since there is 2 of them turning 2 I had to do a TuTu theme party. My best friend Kat did all the desserts because she is truly amazing and we kept it fairly simple.

We set up our bounce house outside.
Had a dress up station.
And a piñata, which I will never do again, at least not the ones where you hit it. I was traumatized.
And of course had the girls favorite character come, Elsa! Ashlyn was in Heaven! Everly was scared of her so she didn't go near her. This is when we realized she isn't into characters at all. Well, she likes them from a far but up close is a no go.

Everly,

You are officially 2 years old! It feels like you have been 2 forever though. You have always been advanced for your age and I swear you were never truly a baby or at least never wanted to be.
You have truly come into your own and are such a happy go luck girl. You smile constantly and are very silly.
You talk up a storm, count to 10, sing your ABC's and any other song you know. You love coloring and singing. You also are really into doing flips with Mommy's help. You are just like I was in that department. I used to walk up my brother's legs and he'd hold my hands and I would flip, you do the same thing minus walking up my legs since I just pick you up and you do it. It's hilarious because you just do it over and over again.
You are still obsessed with baby dolls, it's actually boarding on an addiction.
The carwash is terrifying
You take your time warming up to people. You hate being leg in church daycare making it really hard to go. You literally scream till they come and get me. You are very sensitive to new places and people just like I was when I was little. You are very much a clone of me in a lot of ways.
I also love that you are my little helper. You love to clean up and put things away.
We will also begin potty training you soon! You now tell us when you need a diaper change.
A not so fun thing you are doing now is getting up super early. You also started climbing out of your crib so you are now in a "toddler bed" which is just the side off of your crib. Tonight is the first night we will be trying this out.
We love you so much little Gertie (yes, we still call you that!).

First I want to thank  Gerber Good Start Soothe Infant Formula and Gerber Soothe probiotic Colic Drops, for sponsoring this post! I had two babies who suffered from colic and it was very difficult. It made me feel like a failure as a mother because I couldn't sooth my baby. Looking back I know there were certain pieces of advice I wish I could give myself to help me through that time.
1. Don't be afraid to ask for help. This is key. When your baby is constantly crying it can really wear on you. It's ok to ask for someone to come and help you with the baby. People love holding babies so ask a friend or family member to come by and get a little break, even if it's just a well needed nap.
Everly being worn in the K'tan
2. Wear your baby. Wearing my colicky babies was a life saver. They needed to be held constantly which meant I always had my hands full. Once I started using my wrap it made my life so much easier.
3. Feedings can be tough. With Ace and Everly feedings were so tough with them. Everly would scream through bottles. She just was so uncomfortable all the time. With Ace his colic didn't last as long so I was still nursing him. With him he found comfort with nursing so he was on me all the time. It was night and day with those two. I wish I had known about Gerber Sooth products. They have Gerber® Soothe Colic Drops for breastfed babies and Gerber® Good Start® Soothe Infant Formula for formula fed babies. Something I could have used for each of my kids.

4. Get expert advice. Whether you feel that is your doctor, mother, or best friend, don't be afraid to ask them for suggestions. I know it helped me by asking my seasoned Mom friends on what I could do to help my little ones through this colic phase. The best advice I remember getting was wear them and vacuum. The sound and movement helped sooth them. Such good advice!

5. Get out of the house! Just going for a walk and getting fresh air can do wonders for your and your baby. The motion of the stroller (or if you wear your baby, the motion of you walking) will hopefully help your little one stay calm so you can get a good walk in.

Did you have a baby with colic? What advice would you give a new Mom dealing with a fussy, colicky baby?
