Perfectly Imperfect Mom

Life has been so busy lately. Really when is it not, though? Since moving into our new house we have been non-stop. We moved in on a Friday night. Branden and our friend Michael worked their butts off Friday night and all day Saturday. To say I am incredibly grateful for these guys is an understatement. Watching how hard they worked for those two days was incredible. It actually broke my heart that Branden didn't have more help because he is that guy that will do anything to help anyone and expect nothing in return and to see only one person help him made me sad. Branden didn't seem to care but it definitely bothered me a lot. I know people have their lives and I can't expect it but I think because of who he is as a person it really upset me. Makes me respect him and our friend Michael even more. Those good old midwest boys!
As far as the new house I am completely in love with it. We have this beautiful front yard on a cul de sac and I just picture many nights sitting outside watching the kids play. I have already been taking full advantage of our little front "porch" late in the afternoon while the girls color with chalk on the walk way. It is just so relaxing and quiet.
And did I mention we have a fireplace? Not your typical South Florida house at all. I can't wait to decorate it for the holidays.
What is everyone's plans for Thanksgiving? We are going to spend it in our new house this year. Typically we go to my aunts house but this year she is going on a cruise, which is so awesome, so we are excited to hang at our new house this year. I am going to bring the kids to the movies in the morning like my parents used to do with us then we will eat here around 4. Later that night or the next day my best friend is coming down so I am literally counting down the days. I have been dying for her to be here since we moved. Every life event we are right there for each other so it doesn't quite seem complete till I can see her. Then we will get on to decorating.

One of my favorite memories of Elementary school was the day we would go to art class, frost sugar cookies with orange frosting and watch It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. It is that memory that automatically makes me feel like it is Fall.
This year the girls are finally old enough where they are really understanding the fun of the holidays. I knew I wanted to do something a little different than just watch the movie on the couch. I wanted to create that consistent memory like I had with watching it at school. So when I saw it was going to be on TV I made sure to have Branden record it for me.
The next day I picked the kids up from school and I told them we were having a picnic in the living room and watching The Great Pumpkin. Ace then said we had to wear pajamas too so it would be a pajama party. I loved it! We got home, played for a little bit, Ace did some homework then I got the kids in the bath and into pajamas. As a treat Branden got McDonald's happy meals which were Charlie Brown theme. I laid blankets down on the floor and the kids had a little picnic in the living room while watching the movie. It is the perfect movie to do this with on a school night, which is what we did because it is short enough not to run into bed time. It also can hold the girls attention since it is short. I love a good classic. I can't wait for them to all be old enough to sit through Hocus Pocus (Which by the way is on sale for only $3.99! Saywhat?!)!
Overall it was a really cute little memory for me and I hope for them. I love making little traditions for my babies.
What are your traditions with your kids for Halloween?

Who else is totally in love with Fall? It feels like the true start of Fall when October hits. There is so much to do and it all seems to be centered around family fun.
Here is a list of our favorite Fall activities!
1. Pumpkin Patch. Every single year we get together with friends and go to the pumpkin patch. We have a Farmer's Market here that has a painting area and the kids love it. We started this tradition of going with friends when Ace was just a baby. It's so cool to be able to see how much all of our kids have grown and changed through the years.
2. Decorating. Once September starts I am all about Fall decor. Who doesn't love pumpkins all around the house? The most fun is decorating for Halloween. My husband usually goes all out. It's one of his favorite things to do.

3. Scary movies. Ok so maybe they aren't very scary but we love watching Halloween movies together. The kids get some yummy snacks, their favorite is Goldfish crackers and the orange goes quite nicely with Halloween, right? Then we cuddle up with cozy blankets, turn out all the lights and watch a Halloween movie.
4. Hayrides! Last year we took the kids to a Fall event and they had hayrides. When I was a kid we did hayrides every year during Christmas time but it was really fun to get to go during the Fall festival. The kids loved it.
5. Baking. Nothing screams October or Fall than baking. I love baking cookies for the kids, sure they are just the packaged ones because I am the worst cook but whatever works!
What are some of your favorite October activities?

Tell me I am not the only one counting down the days till the Gilmore Girls comes back to Netflix on November 25th?! I am beyond excited about this. Way more excited than I was about Fuller House. I mean this show was one I watched religiously in high school. I actually started rewatching it on Netflix because I just had to relive the amazingness of the show. It seriously brings me back.
If you haven't seen it already there is a new teaser out there of the show and you must watch it!

So more importantly who do you think Rory is with now? Dean? Jess? Logan? I am hoping for Jess or Dean. I never really liked Logan. And I kind of am dying to see what Lane's character is up to now. I mean it was hysterical when she had the twins. I also wonder if they will have Luke's daughter on the show. So many things I can not wait to see!

Who else will be watching?!
