Perfectly Imperfect Mom

When I began blogging I never imagined I would make money off of my blog. I simply wanted to write about our fertility struggle. I found it therapeutic. As time went on my son was born and it was a great way to document his milestones.
I didn't really think about making money off my blog till I followed some really amazing Bloggers who talked about their income coming strictly from blogging. I investigated more and saw the potential of first working with brands. Who doesn't want free products for their family and all I had to do was write an honest review of the product. It was win win!
I then was able to host giveaways and place ads on my sidebar. These were all great ways to make a little money from my blog but for me they weren't the best way to make a large amount of money. Some Bloggers are able to make a large income from that but it just didn't work for my blog.
I then discovered sponsored posts. At first it was slow and I used a website but it just wasn't really a constantly flow. I would get emailed from people or companies asking to do sponsored posts but the content just didn't work.
I then found Linqia through a Blogging group. I was a little confused and leery at first but I quickly became hooked.
This was where I was finally able to make a consistent income from the blog. Sure, it wasn't enough to live off of but it was definitely a great supplement.
So how does it all work? Linqia pays you per click and you have a goal to reach within those clicks. Confusing? Lets get specific. You get a link through them and they say if this link, worth $1 is clicked 300 times you get $300. If it is clicked more than that, you still only get $300. If it is clicked less, lets say 150 times than you get $150. Why do you not get more money for more clicks? Because you reached your limit for that posts clicks. I have done this but you are encouraged to still get the post and links out there because on your next post you can then have your amount raised.
I went from making $44 per post to over $250 per post and I only started doing this since the middle of June. From my most recent posts I will make over $500. From just two posts! Yes, these do take time and work but the best part of these products you are writing about is they fit into your lifestyle.
I generally like the food item or baby item products because I can write an honest review or make a fun and easy recipe post about them. You also get a budget to spend on the product and other items if you are making a recipe.
Want to get started with Linqia? Here's how.
1. First you must sign up HERE using my referral link. Once you sign up you now wait for them to accept you.
2. You got accepted? Yay! Now you will get emails about products to review and blog about.
3. Aceept or decline the products. Only accept products that fit your blog and audience. I have declined a few products because I knew there was no way I'd be able to make it work for myself or my readers.
4. Write your post and get the links out there! Post your blog link as well as the link given by Linqia on your social media sites. Twitter is a great place to post the specific link. Generally the links lead the reader to coupons so a simple post about the savings it has to offers will entice someone interested in the product.

Sometimes I look at Everly and wish I had been able to cherish the baby time with her more. See, Everly never really was a "baby". She was colicky for 6 months and it was a rough road. But she also started crawling right before 6 months and walking at 8.5 months. She just didn't enjoy laying around and being held. It just wasn't her style.

Now that she is a toddler running around and jumping off of anything she can find I am realizing she is just a high spirited little girl. She is our little mover!
Branden and I joke that Everly is a freak of nature. And we actually mean this in the best way possible. Physically she is very strong. She walks up the stairs like an adult. She can hold two things in her hands and walk up steps like it's nothing. She doesn't take the time to wait for her second foot to hit the step she is on before moving on. Nope, she is right up there. She also started jumping off the ground incredibly early. Her newest milestone is skipping which is more like galloping. When she started doing this it was just so crazy to me because she moves to steady and learns so fast. That saying "Thou She Be But Little, She is Fierce". And I love it!
When you have a super active toddler running around you need diapers that are going to move with her. We tried the new Little Movers by Huggies and they were made for this girl! They have what they call a Baby Moving System with a dry touch liner, contoured shape, double grip strips, and a leak lock system for up to 12 hours of protection against leaks! Huggies Little Movers for a toddler who sleeps through the night.

Do you have a Little Mover of your own? Make sure to share a picture or video of your baby moving and groovin' with the hashtag #SetBabyFree and they could be featured on their social media sites!

Thank you to Huggies for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring me to try Huggies Little Movers Diapers!

Growing up my Mom wasn't the Mom who cooked every meal from scratch. She worked full time and the days she worked often went past dinner. Fortunately she was off three days during the week so those days, while she was busy, she always managed to make something delicious. My all time favorite meal that she made was chili. I used to always ask her to make it for my birthday too.
A staple for this recipe is Ragu Chunky Combination. It gives a little something extra than just plan tomato sauce. This sauce is a homemade recipe by Assunta Cantisano. She brought the recipe over from Italy and the neighbors quickly spread the word on her amazing sauce.
Here is a really quick and easy recipe for all you busy parents out there!
24 oz jar of Ragu Chunky Garden Combination Sauce
1lb ground turkey meat (or beef)
1 can Diced Tomatoes
1 can of Kidney Beans
Chili Seasoning
Spaghetti Noodles
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  1. Cook the spaghetti and ground turkey.
  2. Strain pasta and put to the side.
  3. In the same pain as the ground turkey pour in the tomatoes, beans, pasta sauce, and chili seasoning.
  4. Then mix them together.
  5. Let them simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. Mix with spaghetti and your done!
Easy right? This is seriously the fastest and easiest way to jazz up your regular spaghetti night.

Many thanks to Ragu for sponsoring today’s story!

When my friends and I took our kids to the pumpkin patch a couple weeks ago we got on the topic of kids asking about babies. Since the majority of them are older siblings one asked her Mom how her baby sister got out of her Mommy's tummy. She told us how the talk went and she said it wasn't bad. She gave her the answer and that was it. No big deal but we all were still wondering how it would go with our kids. And when we would get asked.

So today I got the same question from Ace. We were leaving the grocery store and he saw a picture of a woman who was pregnant. He asked if she had a baby in her tummy and I said yes. He then said "Mommy, how does the baby get out of her tummy?" I then said "How do you think the baby comes out?" He then pointed down and said shyly "Down there?" So I smiled and said "Where?" And he said  your butt? Ha! I said no and he then said in a whisper "your vagina?" and I said yes. He was so funny with how shy he was about it. It didn't bother me talking to him about it but I always wondered if it would be awkward. It totally wasn't. I was shocked he knew the baby must come out from somewhere "down there".

After he figured that out he then asked why Ashlyn came from YaYa (our nickname for Ashlyn's bio Mom). I told him because she was a adopted and she gave birth to her. He seemed pretty satisfied with the talk and just went on to talking about something else. I actually expected him to ask more but he didn't seem to care about that topic anymore.

So there you have it. It's not as bad or uncomfortable as some of us envision it. I know not everyone thinks it will be but I know others do so I am here to reassure you it's not that bad.

Now if he asks how the baby gets into Mommy's tummy I might be wondering how to explain that one for her age, ha!
