Perfectly Imperfect Mom

Happy 6 months to my handsome little guy! Adonis had a great day today. We went to the park and met up with some friends, then we went over to the place where I will be nannying starting tomorrow and he got to play with Brady for a bit. After that we headed over to my Mom's house and he always loves seeing her. She is probably one of his favorite people. After that we headed home, fed the dogs then went to Carters and The Children's Place while Acey took a nap. I didn't find anything so we headed home and we did a 6 month photoshoot, Ace ate some bananas while I made baby food and then it was bath time, play time, bottle then bedtime. Pretty busy but fun day.
I am so amazed at how awesome my son is. He is very silly, sweet and happy. I never imagined I could have such an incredible child.
This picture captures his personality, this is how he is all the time
Some of his favorite things are peek-a-boo, patty cake, books, especially Pajama Time and Goodnight Moon, "standing" up, his silver rattle and owl toy. He also loves anything that crinkles.
He is wearing sizes 6 to 9 months clothing, size 3 diapers if we use disposables and we just bought some new diaper covers because he has moved up a size in those. He still wakes up for one bottle around 5 or 6am but goes to bed around 8. No teeth yet. He has rolled over once each way but refuses to do it again. He is getting close to sitting up on his own too! He drinks about 5 ozs at a time but I think he will be up to 6 soon. He has eaten squash, sweet potatoes, apples, pears, bananas, avocado (tonight for the first time), carrots and a potato. I think that is everything. He is a good eater which is nice. Not picky yet. I am not sure yet how long he is but we have his 6 month appointment next Monday.

I am so excited to announce we got a new car! It is our family car. Before we got pregnant with Ace or got married even, I leased a Honda Civic Hybrid. I pretty much regret doing that instead of keeping my old Honda Accord because having a baby in that small of a car is hard. My husband and I have been talking about getting a new car for awhile now and decided we needed something larger for our family. We have two medium size dogs that also needed to be able to fit along with Ace's stuff. My husband had been searching for a car and found an awesome deal on a fully loaded 2009 Jeep Liberty (we decided against a brand new car because they lose so much value the second you drive off the lot and cars that are a bit older have lots their initial value, thank you Dave Ramsey for this! ). We went and checked it out and it was ours! I love it. My favorite part is you can turn the car on from inside the house which is nice because I like to cool the car down before I take Ace out into it. I was a little nervous driving it at first because I am used to a small car and the other SUV type car I have ever driven was my Mom's lexus and it is on a car chasis so it drives differently. Today was the first day of really driving it around and Branden and I were like two little kids who had to share a toy. We were taking turns driving while the other one sat in the back with Ace. It was funny but I gave him a couple extra turns since I get the car to myself tomorrow while he works. I feel so great about this purchase. It isn't a lease which makes it feel even more awesome because it is ours and we can really do what we want with it. We plan on keeping this car for a long time as we are trying to live by Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover and Branden's car is paid off and we plan on keeping it till it dies. He is great at keeping up a car so I have faith in this car lasting a long time.
Here is our new beauty!

When people meet Ace the thing they always describe him as is funny. I just love it because he has such a cute personality. He is always laughing and smiling at people. He really interacts with people he meets and he just loves making people laugh. When he gets older I swear he is going to be the class clown and a total flirt. I just love how silly he is.
Here are some cute recent pictures of my cutie pie.
Check out those lashes!

There are so many things I have changed my thought on since becoming a mother. I feel like I just see the world differently so I decided to make a blog post dedicated to things I have learned since becoming a mother. They are things I either have heard people say and just didn't understand till he was here or things I have realized are so important now.  Some are silly or obvious and some are more serious but either way these are a few things I have learned.
Here we go...
Things I have learned since becoming a mother...
1. I have never loved someone so much before.
2. I have a new respect and love for my mother. I now understand how strong her love is for me.
3. How innocent a child really is and how badly I want to protect that innocence.
4. I would give up my life for my son in a heartbeat.
5. There is nothing better then making your child smile.
6. I can make my son feel better or calmer faster then anyone and its an amazing feeling.
7. My body will probably never be the same but it really is worth it all.
8. The first 6 to 8 weeks of a baby's life is so hard but it does get easier.
9. Breastfeeding was one of the hardest things I ever did but also one of the most rewarding. I wish I could have done it longer.
10. No parent is perfect.
11. Mother's guilt is real.
12. My son is perfect.
13. He amazes me everyday.
14. I can make up silly songs in a heartbeat.
15. Having other mothers as friends is so important.
16. You realize all those things you said you would or wouldn't do as a mother sometimes change.
17. You stop caring about how stupid or ridiculous you look when trying to make your child smile.
18. We try to be the best example for your child so he can be an amazing adult.
19. You understand how important it is to start saving for college now.
20. I will miss my son even when I am only away from him for a short time.
